Director, screenwriter, set designer and master of cinematic narrative awarded an Honorary Oscar: the exhibition WAJDA at the Main Building of the National Museum in Krakow takes us on a journey to the cinematic and theatrical achievements of one of the finest filmmakers of all time. The complex story of the life of the co-creator of the Polish film school who passed away in 2016 is based on screenplays, sketches and drawings he took as he worked, as well as props, costumes, stage designs and production documents. The priceless archives presented in a multimedia arrangement bring to life the achievements of the maestro who worked tirelessly for decades to hone a universal language of cinema to tell stories of Poland. We will also take a more intimate look at the man himself.

Prepared by the National Museum in Krakow, the monographic exhibition inaugurates Krakow Festival Office’s project Cinematic Kraków, bringing together the most important cinematographic events in the city: the Off Camera Festival (see p. 10) and the Film Music Festival and the Krakow Film Festival held in May.
