Travel broadens the mind, exercises the body and mind and expands horizons – and for some people it becomes the way of life. The Navigator Festival 2019 presents a dazzling mosaic of globetrotting on 29 and 30 March. Film screenings introduce us to the alpinist Maciej Berbeka, the Nepalese sky runner Mira Rai and the everyday lives of porters in the High Tatras. The following day, travellers tell their fascinating stories taking us to far-flung corners of the world. Dorota Sumińska takes us on a journey into idyllic Asia, Mateusz Waligóra leads us into the Gobi Desert, Piotr Pustelnik reaches for the Himalayan peaks, while Kapitan and Admirał tell the tale of their pioneering winter ascent of the tallest peak in the Momsk Mountains. The meetings close with a concert by the Moribaya ensemble and energetic drumming workshops.

This year’s festival programme also includes workshops taking the youngest visitors on a trip to six continents and dome screen projections revealing secrets of the natural world and the origins of life on Earth. The Nowa Huta Cultural Centre hosts the perfect warm up before the start of this year’s tourist season! (bf)
