Dream On

Who doesn’t sometimes dream of breaking off from the dull reality and sailing off into the unknown? Some of us are satisfied with our imaginations, but for others fantasy is not enough. One of the latter was the 16th-century Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, who took off on a journey around the world. Almost five centuries later, we are taken on a four-day-long voyage of discovery on a ship called the International Sea Song Festival Shanties (21-24 February), stopping off at four havens along the way. The concert hall of Radio Kraków resounds with ballads, Studio takes young dreamers on an exciting adventure while adults sail straight into the wind, seadogs take the audience on a journey to the world of Jurek Porębski at Kijów.Centrum, while weary travellers come to rest every evening at Stary Port. There will even be shanties at the Main Market Square! We will be accompanied on our voyages by some of the finest crews from Poland and guests from abroad including Slogmåkane, The Exmouth Shanty Men and Patrick Lee.
