For a Noble Aim
MRIs, computer tomography, endoscopy equipment… Sounds scary? It shouldn’t – helping really is child’s play!
On 13 January, during the 27th Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity we will be collecting funds for purchasing equipment for specialist paediatric hospitals to be used to diagnose and treat sick children. Poland is currently home to almost 50 such institutions. In previous years, the campaign has raised a total of over 950 million zlotys. Last year broke all records, raising around 126 million! This year we are expecting to break the barrier of the total of a billion zlotys. Every little helps – just put as much as you can into a collection tin carried by one of the 120,000 volunteers. Events culminate at the Main Market Square, resounding with music throughout the day and the traditional “light towards the heaven” illuminating Kraków from 8pm. The Nowa Huta Cultural Centre also holds a fair and concerts, while the Vistula Boulevards host the Great Heart Run. Kraków’s cinemas (Agrafka, KIKA) and clubs (Boss Garage Pub, Dali Club) among others also participate in activities. Let’s join them! (Bartosz Suchecki, „Karnet”)
