ALL THAT JAZZ
Jazz dance first arose in the US in the late 1920s. During the Second World War and the Cold War, it became a symbol of the decadence of the West and an expression of defiance of totalitarianism. Today it is undergoing a renaissance, and its ebullience is earning it growing numbers of fans. The myriad varieties of jazz dance come to Kraków during the 9th Dragon Swing 2018: Lindy Underground International Lindy Hop Festival (21-25 November), once again putting a spring in the step of Cracovian and international guests. The programme includes workshops and social dances at venues throughout a city and further afield at the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Music comes courtesy of acclaimed swing bands such as Heart of Dixie and Carolina Reapers Swing.
