To make the most of this event, you’ll have to visit Silesia – but thanks to Capella Cracoviensis, the 13th Gorczycki Festival makes a guest appearance in the capital of Małopolska. During the concert Gorczycki Fest, the ensemble performs religious compositions by one of the most fascinating composers of Polish Baroque. Born in Rozbark, now a district of Bytom, Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki lived in Kraków, where he served as ordained bandmaster of the Wawel Cathedral ensemble. Capella Cracoviensis, led by the acclaimed violinist Robert Bachara, also presents works by Mozart and Symphony in D major by Bazyli Bohdanowicz, 18th-century composer who rose to fame with experiments such as a sonata performed by three people on a single violin and concerts for three voices accompanied by whistling and orchestra. And if you do decide to visit Silesia after all, you’ll also hear Olga and Natalya Pasichnyk, Andreas Scholl with the London Baroque Orchestra and Sinfonietta Cracovia under the baton of Hobart Earle.
