Stories Told Through Dance
It could be said that no other artist made such a huge contribution to Poland’s independence as Ignacy Jan Paderewski. The “Cracovia Danza” Court Ballet pays homage to the extraordinary composer, pianist and statesman with the spectacle Paderewski. Fantasy and Legend premiering in Kraków on 12 November at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre.
The performance is based on previously unpublished letters penned by Paderewski to his second wife Helena Górska. “Burn these letters, Helenka”, wrote Paderewski. Luckily for us she didn’t follow his wishes, and the correspondence has been held at the Jagiellonian Library ever since. We will discover some of the most significant moments in Paderewski’s life and meet the beautiful and wise women who influenced him over the years. We will also hear his music performed live by Adam Wodnicki on piano. The performance forms a part of the celebrations of the centenary of Poland’s independence.
