He was born on 23 November 1933. Exactly 85 years later, on 23 November 2018, the Kraków Philharmonic celebrates the birthday of a contemporary classic, one of the most famous Polish artists. During his birthday concerts at the Kraków Philharmonic, we will hear Adagietto and Double Concerto for violin and cello by Krzysztof Penderecki. The concerts will be led by John Axelrod, an outstanding American conductor, who emphasizes the role of Penderecki as a mentor and a father-like figure in his artistic life.
