The idea of the Kraków Music Autumn comes from Marek Szlezer and Jan Kalinowski who form a piano and cello Cracow Duo. The festival, co-organised by the Porta Musicae Artistic Society and the Kraków Philharmonic, aims at presenting classical chamber music. The repertoire of the festival comprises contemporary music (including premieres), works of Polish composers and popular standards of the concert halls.
This year’s edition brings first rendition of works by Katarzyna Szwed and Tomasz Jakub Opałka (world and Polish premiere, resprectively), composistions by Grażyna Bacewicz, Paweł Łukaszewski and Ludomir Różycki, as well as Spanish (Enrique Granados), Hugarian (Johannes Brahms) and… the Tatra Mountains sounds (Ignacy Jan Paderewski).
Among the performers are: Messages Quartet, considered one of the best Polish string quartets, Spanish Trio Bacarisse, Emes Piano Duo playing for four hands and the initiators of Kraków Music Autumn: Cracow Duo – Kalinowski & Szlezer.
