Sunday Funday: Blues Dance

Do you like blues music and dance?
We are inviting you to an extraordinary music and dance experience: we will help you in translation the sounds of your favourite music into expressive movement!

BLUES DANCE was created at the end of the 19th century in the plantations of the American South. It’s Afro-American roots and history has an influence on blues dance aesthetic: based on a strongly accented rhythm, balanced and relaxed body posture and an unique connection with other person which allows improvisation and expression of individual emotions. The evolution of blues dancing was parallel to the development of blues music itself - from traditional forms of dance (slow drag, black bottom, jookin', struttin') to modern fusion blues (inspired by other dance styles and musical genres).

Our workshops will be open to everyone!
We will try to present the rhythmic and aesthetic foundations of blues dancing. We will share with participants the technique of dance in couples and the idea of coexistence the lead/follow and improvising technique. The aim of our classes will be an experience of comfortable and inspiring connection with music, with own body and with the other person.
