Monday 16 October 1978 is forever etched in the memory of everyone who was emotionally involved with the election of the Kraków metropolitan bishop as the head of the Catholic Church. Over the decade that followed, the conclave’s decision had a huge impact on the Church around the globe, as well as shaping political changes in the Eastern Bloc. The exhibition Our Pope of the Archdiocese Museum at the Sanctuary of St John Paul II reveals the world of the poet, philosopher, priest, member of the Second Vatican Council and Holy Father. The exhibition focuses around the 14 encyclicals published by the Polish Pope during his twenty six-year-long pontificate.
