Autumnal vibes often encourage contemplation and require spiritual nourishment. The Kraków All Souls “Zaduszki” Jazz Festival (2-10 November) is the perfect remedy. The 63rd festival starts with two fascinating concerts: Kijów.Centrum welcomes the American guitar virtuoso Al Di Meola, while Piwnica Pod Baranami presents ensembles led by Marian Pawlik on bass and double bass and Maciej Fortuna on trumpet. During the following days, artists pay tribute to musicians who passed away this year: Grzegorz Grzyb, Jacek Mazur and Aretha Franklin. The festival closes at Manggha Museum with a performance by two acclaimed vocalists with their ensembles, Krystyna Stańko and Marianna Wróblewska, while Workaholic lead us out of the contemplative mood with their joyful music at Dali Club. This year’s Zaduszki also visit Lanckorona, Zabierzów, Wieliczka and Trzebinia. (Bartosz Suchecki, „Karnet”)
