Persona

He directed over forty films, 140 stage performances and dozens of TV plays. He also wrote screenplays for other directors. The Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman, sometimes known as the Shakespeare of the cinema, is widely regarded as one of the greatest artists in the history of cinematography. Kino Agrafka, DKF Rozpięci and Gutek Film mark the centenary of his birth with screenings of five of his films.

The review Bergman at Agrafka presents The Seventh Seal awarded the jury’s special prize at Cannes, the multi-award winning and commercially acclaimed Fanny and Alexander, and the introspective Wild Strawberries. The programme also includes Autumn Sonata with Ingrid Bergman receiving a nomination for the Academy Award and the Golden Globe, and Persona starring Bibi Andersson nominated for the BAFTA in 1968. In the words of Bergman himself, “No art passes our conscience in the way film does, and goes directly to our feelings, deep down into the dark rooms of our souls.”
