In a Fairytale World
The witcher made his first appearance in the “Fantastyka” monthly in 1986. In the years that followed, Andrzej Sapkowski developed the series of short stories into a vast saga followed by a film adaptation and a TV series about Geralt of Rivia. The local phenomenon was launched onto the global stage when it was adapted as a video game. The third instalment, titled Wild Hunt, has been awarded several prizes, with the soundtrack becoming a huge hit in gaming circles and beyond. The project’s music director Marcin Przybyłowicz chose the folk ensemble Percival Schuttenbach to work with. There was no question of any errors – after all, the group is named after one of the gnomes from Sapkowski’s universe! The game’s huge popularity has truly brought the music to life. On 15 September, the ensemble from Lubin brings the music from the virtual world to the stage at Kijów.Centrum. During the concert Wild Hunt Live, Percival’s exuberant sound is accompanied by dazzling costumes and stage sets, original animations and dance and acrobatic performances by the AVATAR Theatre. All this will make us feel as though we’re truly in Novigrad or Kaer Trolde. (bsu)
