In Great Company
An important accent at the end of an already jazzy July will be the third Zbigniew Seifert International Jazz Violin Competition. The noble contest, held every two years since 2014, provides the winners – including Bartosz Dworak, Mateusz Smoczyński and Apel·les Carod – with a great opportunity to make their name in the world of instrumental jazz. The memory of the late, great Zbigniew Seifert contributes to the growing popularity of jazz violin and number of outstanding concerts by the instrument to the great delight of fans. During this year’s auditions (25-27 July, Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music in Lusławice), ten participants compete for impressive cash prizes – the winner receives 10,000 euros! – and the opportunity to perform alongside the Dominik Wania Trio during the gala finale. And that’s quite a prize in itself: on 28 July, the stage at Kijów.Centrum also welcomes jazz maestros John Scofield and John Medeski! (Grzegorz Słącz, Karnet magazine)
