The Moon and Jazz

Cracovian Nights, the cycle of nocturnal events celebrating all fields of the arts, continue to enjoy growing popularity. The 12th Jazz Night (14/15 July) is bound to attract crowds once again: concerts held in beautiful open-air settings, atmospheric clubs and music resounding until the early hours… The event organised by the City of Kraków in cooperation with the ongoing Summer Jazz Festival Kraków presents all flavours of jazz at outdoor stages, at MOCAK, Proxima Nowy Theatre and dozens of Kraków’s clubs, bars and cellars.

The main stage at the Small Market Square welcomes the pianist Pasquale Stafano and bandoneonist Gianni Norio; the artists are famous for their album Nocturno, featuring classic pieces by Astor Piazzolla and Carlos Gardel alongside their own compositions. Hanna Banaszak presents her beautiful sounds, while a dose of high energy is provided by the funk formation PBUG. The Keith Thompson Band brings jazz rock to Nowa Huta, while Wayne Markus and Soul Finger stray into blues. Clubs across the city present recitals of jazz standards, as well as resounding with fusion and even Latino music! Don’t forget that entry to all concerts is free.

It’s no accident that the symbol of this year’s Cracovian Nights is the Moon in all her phases; the exceptional cycle of events showcases different aspects of culture and all shades of artistic expression.
