In 1981, following the wishes expressed in the will of the widow of Friedrich Vordemberge-Gildewart who passed away in 1962, a foundation was created to support artists aged 35 and under. Each year, a different country host a competition whose main cash prize supports the winning artist for around two years. Poland hosted the competition for the second time in 2017, and – just as in 2011 – events were held at MOCAK. The sixteen shortlisted artists were endorsed by institutions from across Poland. Competition works are presented at the exhibition Award of the Vordemberge-Gildewart Foundation 2018. On 27 June 2018 the international jury appointed by the foundation will announce the winners.
