Films From the Seine
French cinema features smart humour, fascinating characters and sharp screenplays. It’s time for this year’s 9th French Cinema Review, organised by Gutek Film and the Institut Français and held at Pod Baranami Cinema(4-10 June).
We should certainly be looking out for films by up-and-coming filmmakers. We will see Léonor Serraille’s debut Jeune femme awarded the Camera d’or at the Cannes Festival, Mehdi Idir and Grand Corps Malade’s Patients, and Vincent Lobelle and Sébastien Thiery’s comedy Momo.
We will also see the latest productions by acclaimed French directors. Bruno Dumont presents his take on the Maid of Orleans in Jeannette: The Childhood of Joan of Arc. The actor Mathieu Amalric steps behind the camera for the music drama Barbara awarded two Césars. The repertoire also includes Arnaud des Pallières’ moving drama Orphan and Claire Denis’ Let the Sunshine In with the outstanding Juliette Binoche. À bientôt!
