Pure Emotions
“Dance is the loftiest, the most moving, the most beautiful of the arts, because it is no mere translation or abstraction from life; it is life itself,” goes the famous quote by Havelock Ellis. The integral components of dance are intensity, vitality and energy, but before it can reach its true form, dancers must exercise and practice to shape their bodies and technique. The importance of honing the art of contemporary dance is presented through the spectacle Stimulating Bodies, shown on 2 March during the Kielce Dance Theatre Evening at the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre. During the second part of the evening, the ensemble presents Beyond the Horizon choreographed by Jacek Przybyłowicz. Stripped of traditional storylines, the spectacle focuses on the feelings and expression of the performers, because that’s what contemporary dance is all about: pure emotions, which the performers pass on to us – the audience! The Kielce theatre visits the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre as part of the Polish Dance Network exchange of performances between cultural centres throughout Poland.
