Magical Fairytale
We are taken on a nostalgic journey to the past by the “Cracovia Danza” Court Ballet with their spectacle In Old Cinema. On 21 and 22 October, we head to the Variété Theatre to immerse ourselves in a fairytale world of interwar Polish cinema, packed full with classic hits which continue to entertain and move audiences until the present day. Under the direction of Romana Agnel, the artists use dance to tell stories about love – the main theme throughout the 1920s and 1930s – be is unrequited, romantic, full of dreams, joyful, tempestuous or capricious. The centre stage is taken by women – beautiful, wise, dazzling and funny – for whom men want to change the world. We will explore the most fashionable dances of the era, such as tango, rumba, Charleston and Lindy Hop, intertwined with elements of cabaret and pantomime. So let’s take a nostalgic trip to this magical fairytale world!
