Clothes design and manufacture needs to follow sustainable development and fair trade practices, as advocated by the latest Cracow Fashion Week, held under the banner “Fashion & Ecology” and hosted by the Cracow School of Art and Fashion Design (SAPU) and the Krakow Festival Office. The event kicks off with the Cracow Fashion Awards gala at ICE Kraków (10 March) where the best graduation collections are assessed by an international jury. The evening also features displays of designs by Jiefei Wang and Wenwen Howu, and Monika Ptaszek, graduate of the School. The green fashion week closes with a presentation of garments fashioned from recycled materials during the No Waste Show at the Novotel Hotel (18 March). The week also features workshops of fashion, shoe and jewellery design and remaking clothes, and exhibitions, including the photo exhibition Focus on Fashion at the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre. Entry to most events is free, but invitations are required to fashion displays.
