“The chronicle of a murdered world. Jews in Krakow during the German occupation” by Katarzyna Zimmerer. Book promotion and Q&A with the author. Led by Anna Gulińska.

“How can we illustrate the horror of those events to a contemporary reader? With little bits of information like this one: “On the 1st of May [1940] Jews were banned from the Main Square and the Planty, except for the strip between Hotel Royal by St. Gertrude St. and the Main Post Office on Starowiślna St.”

“The chronicle of a murdered world” by Katarzyna Zimmerer not only documents the crime but also makes us see it in a different light, through the details of the day-to-day life during the occupation. No one will be able to say “enough with the Holocaust”: in this book, the details speak louder than anything, and fear, the one that never actually grows old, overtakes us once again - that this could happen here, on these streets and in these parks that we know so well” (excerpt from the book’s review by Adam Zagajewski).
