The exhibition at Celestat presents all the works submitted to the 77th Kraków Nativity Scene Contest.

On Thursday 5 December, participants in the 77th Kraków Nativity Scene Contest gathered at 10am at the Adam Mickiewicz statue to present intricate, dazzling constructions inspired by Cracovian architecture. After the midday hejnał bugle call, the colourful pageant strolled to Celestat where the jury assessed their works in a range of categories including age of artist and size. Points are awarded depending on references to tradition, as well as innovation, colours, architecture and figurines, and of course the overall impression.

On Sunday 8 December, the director of the Museum of Krakow, organiser of the competition, announced the winners and opened the contest exhibition held under the honorary patronage of the Polish National Commission for UNESCO.

The beautiful tradition, dating back to the 19th century, has been passed down generations and the nativity scene pageant goes on!
