Full-Blown Trumpet
During the World of Great Music tour last year, the legendary Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval made his first appearance in Kraków. He captivated the audience with his joyful, unpretentious music. The artist must have enjoyed our city, because he returns almost a year to the day since the first concert. This time the virtuoso performs at ICE Kraków on 15 February.
Sandoval’s music resounds with Caribbean passion, but his fans love him for his technical prowess. Sandoval is a true master of extracting the most extreme registers from his instrument. He was hailed as a worthy successor to Dizzy Gillespie, but his career truly took off after he moved to the US in the 1990s. He has performed on the world’s greatest stages and played alongside Frank Sinatra, Woody Herman, Herbie Hancock and Tony Bennett. He has 19 Grammy nominations under his belt (including ten awards), six Billboard awards and an Emmy for the soundtrack to the film For Love or Country telling the story of his life.
As well as playing his greatest hits, Sandoval will also present tracks from his latest album, inspired by the works by the great Mexican romantic composer Armando Manzanero. (Artur Jackowski, "Karnet" magazine)
