Zbigniew Gostomski was a painter, designer of installations, actor of the Cricot 2 Theatre, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and co-founder of the Foksal Gallery, one of the most important contemporary art galleries in Poland. He was able to take part in the preparations for the latest exhibition at Cricoteka before his passing in July this year. The exhibition Zbigniew Gostomski. Returns presents his own selection of some of his works from the last fifty years. They include examples of paintings, drawings, sculptures, environmental art, installations and assemblages, such as Optical Objects from the 1950s and 1960s, his acclaimed “dissertation on colour” or 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, (10) from 1974 taking a witty look at the relationship between artworks and their descriptions, and one of the last sculptures he ever made.
