Lider lebn ejbig. A concert of the “Gofenberg & Chor” choir under the direction of Jossif Gofenberg (Berlin), featuring the JCC Krakow choir under the direction of Walentyn Dubrowski.
The choir’s repertoire comprises mainly of songs in Yiddish. The choir was formed in the year 2000 as part of the “Lomir ale zingen” (“Let us all sing”) course led by Jossif Gofenberg at the Jewish Adult Education Centre of the Jewish Community of Berlin. The director and founder of the choir, Jossif Gofenberg, was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, in 1949. He has played the accordion since he was six. Since 1990, Jossif Gofenberg has been living in Berlin, Germany, where he has founded several Klezmer bands and has worked as the head of a Jewish music school.
