Recitations, dramas, puppet performances, and even operas and ballets – against all odds, between 1939 and 1945, prisoners at Nazi POW and concentration camps managed to form theatre groups. They helped then preserve at least some sense of dignity and self-worth. The exhibition at MOCAK presents objects, archives and documents from theatres at prisoners’ camps, displayed in a space specially arranged by the sculptor Jarosław Kozakiewicz. We will also see a film featuring interviews with witnesses.
