In the Mountains with a Camera
It’s a veritable celebration of mountains, climbers, extreme sports and excellent cinema: the 13th Meetings with Mountain Cinema (30 August – 3 September) attract fans of mountaineering from all over Poland to the capital of the Tatra Mountains. This year, the opening event is held at the Górna Rówień Krupowa for the first time.
The focal point of the festival is the International Mountaineering Film Competition, featuring premieres of productions from all over the globe. They include documentaries Climbing Higher about the first Czech climber to conquer the crown of the Himalayas and Samuel in the Clouds about a worker at the world’s highest skiing resort in the Andes, as well as the family drama Draw Me a Mountain Goat about nine-year-old Colin who spends his time with his grandfather tracking animals in the Gran Paradiso National Park in Italy. The film review is accompanied by meetings with climbers, alpinists and explorers including Leo Houlding, Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, Andrzej Bargiel, Piotr Pustelnik and Ewa Wachowicz, as well as events promoting books, workshops, the traditional Mountain Academy and the sports competition Zako Boulder Power.
