The 41st International Folk Art Fair is inaugurated by Krosno, a city where industry and the arts intertwine. It is famous for its glassworks and linen weaving factory. Between 10 and 27 August, the Main Market Square also presents crafts from the towns of Sędziszów and Pińczów and the Kolbuszowa, Brzesko and Nowy Targ counties, and it hosts folk artists from Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine and Romania.

For the last forty years, the Cepelia-run festival has been the perfect opportunity to see and buy earthenware, embroidered fabrics, wooden figurines and intricate lace, often made by craftsmen and women during the fair. This year, the Main Market Square hosts artists from Zalipie for the first time: they will reveal how they decorate their cottages and farmsteads with colourful painted flowers and leaves. We will also admire a blacksmith’s workshop, complete with anvil, bellows, huge hammers and lucky horseshoes! And there will be plenty of Cracovian anecdotes presented during meetings with local tradition and history. (bf)
