The Beethoven Academy Orchestra’s cycle of Polish music concerts mainly focuses on forgotten, rarely performed compositions. This time the project takes a new turn: the musicians perform a brand-new piece Baptismal Symphony, written especially for them by Paweł Sydor. Its world premiere resounds on 14 August at the Church of St Catherine as part of the Cracovia Sacra Night. Since the cycle aims to confront Polish compositions with international masterpieces, the concert also features Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 in B minor, known as “Unfinished”. The orchestra, joined by the Górecki Chamber Choir, is conducted by Wojciech Czepiel.
