The unusual round concert hall is over 500 years old, and the cornerstone was laid by a Polish king. The venue hosts the 10th Barbican Festival. The event kicks off with Astor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons and songs performed by Magda Brudzińska. The festival’s special guest is Bomsori Kim, winner of the second prize at last year’s H. Wieniawski Competition. The Korean violinist makes her Cracovian debut with Mozart’s Concerto No. 1 in B flat major, accompanied by the Beethoven Academy Orchestra under the baton of Piotr Sułkowski – founder and artistic director of the festival. We will hear early music performed on natural trumpets by the Tubicinatores Gedanenses ensemble; the festival closes with a piano recital by Marcin Koziak performing works by Chopin, Liszt, Borodin and Albéniz.
