French Rendez-vous
If you fancy a rendez-vous with French cinematography, make sure you head to Pod Baranami Cinema – the cinema hosts the 8th Review of New French Cinema (9-15 June)! We will see the best productions of recent years, including Philippe Faucon’s Fatima; the film tells telling the story of a Moroccan woman living in Lyon and trying to provide a good life to her two growing daughters in spite of not speaking French. The screen will be graced by myriad stars of French cinema: Juliette Binoche in the black comedy Slack Bay, Omar Sy portraying a happy-go-lucky womaniser’s transformation into a responsible father bringing up his daughter on his own in Two Is a Family, Audrey Tautou in the biographical The Odyssey and Gérard Depardieu in French Tour. If you’re a fan of animation, don’t miss The Red Turtle – the Oscar-nominated poetic story of a castaway. (Justyna Skalska, "Karnet" magazine)
