It’s no secret that Hungarian cinema has been achieving triumphs in recent years, winning numerous awards and acclaim of audiences the world over – how can we forget with the Oscar-winning drama Son of Saul directed by László Nemes? During the Hungarian Film Spring (21-27 April) at Pod Baranami Cinema, we will see directorial debuts and works by masters. The review opens with It’s Not the Time of My Life (dir. Szabolcs Hajdu) depicting a family reunion held after many years, revealing blame, regret and disappointments. The programme also features classics such as Károly Makk’s Another Way starring two Polish actors: Grażyna Szapołowska and Jadwiga Jankowska-Cieślak. Recent productions include Swing directed by Csabo Fazekas, the bitter-sweet Afterlife directed by Virág Zomborácz, and the multi-award winning romantic comedy Liza, the Fox-Fairy.
