The musical matter of the stage mystery Ich geh’ und suche by the Kraków Chamber Opera is based on masterful cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 61, 81, 103, 152, 153, 155, 169), starting with BWV 49 Ich geh' und suche mit Verlangen. The vocal and instrumental parts are complemented by spoken dialogues took from the biblical Book of Psalms.
The play was prepared on the occasion of the Bach Year (2020) featuring celebrations of Bach's 335th anniversary of the birth and the 270th anniversary of his passing.
