The Polish Radio Choir presents its first concert in 2017 in Kraków! Its main theme will be German contemporary choral music. The monographic concert will be led by an excellent German conductor Matthias Beckert. Uder his baton, the choir will perform Splendor paterne glorie for choire and violin, Almáttigr Guð, hymn Veni Creator and Magnificat – all composed by Wolfram Buchenberg.
Wolfram Buchenberg (b. 1962) is one of the most celebrated living composers in Germany and he continues to add to an already rich and extensive choral output. Constantly receiving commissions and having been regularly performed and recorded, he is at the forefront of the modern choral movement in this country. One of the largest and most substantial portions of the composer's work is for unaccompanied voices. His musical language, which is modern and tonal at the same time, is characterized by colourful harmonies, solo elements, the inclusion of spoken words and a break with traditional rhythmic structures.
