Three days with art, a celebration of Kraków’s galleries, a marathon for patrons of vernissages and artistic events – it’s time for the Cracow Gallery Weekend KRAKERS!
The programme of the sixth event, organised by the Wschód Sztuki Foundation, brings together dozens of private galleries and informal initiatives joined by institutions such as the Ethnographic Museum, the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre and the Faculty of Arts at the Pedagogical University.
All events are joined by the concept of the avant-garde, celebrating its centenary in Poland. The theme “Directions of tensions”, recalling the pioneer of Polish avant-garde Władysław Strzemiński, invites audiences to take a broad look at the topic in its historical and current contexts. We will see exhibitions of works by acclaimed artists and young creators, “perhaps those truly ‘avant-garde’”. New this year is a competition for the exhibition which best presents the topic “set” by the organisers.
Make sure you also visit the Szołayski House for the exhibition of the National Museum in Krakow The Power of the Avant-Garde comprising works by European masters alongside earlier and contemporary works by Polish authors, and Cricoteka for the exhibition White as the Colour of Snow… presenting avant-garde themes in the works of Tadeusz Kantor and artists from the Cricot 2 Theatre.
