The Way to the Top
The Berlin wall was still untouched when their track broke musical barriers. In 1986, Aerosmith’s Walk This Way annihilated the invisible wall between rock and hip-hop. Co-recorded with Run-D.M.C., the updated version of the 1970s hit took the world by storm. Had it not been for the track, bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys or Rage Against The Machine would not have existed. Aerosmith’s other huge contributions include Dream On and Toys in the Attic, listed in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 songs that shaped rock.
The American group was founded in 1970s in Boston. To begin with, frontman Steven Tyler was seen as a replica Mick Jagger, much to the former’s chagrin, but Aerosmith rapidly became an established group in their own right. Slash from Guns N’ Roses has said that it was Aerosmith’s album Rocks which inspired him to become a musician. Other fans include Kurt Cobain and James Hetfield from Metallica.
On 2 June, the musicians present their greatest hits during their farewell tour Aero-Vederci Baby! at Tauron Arena Kraków. (Artur Jackowski, "Karnet" magazine)
