Boogying Kraków
It’s a night unlike any other, and this year’s New Year’s Eve party in the city is going to be special!
The event kicks off in three locations at 10pm, and finishes just after midnight. We’ll dance into 2017 in Nowa Huta, Podgórze and – of course – at the Main Market Square.
The stage set up at the main site of the Ludowy Theatre in Nowa Huta resounds with favourite hits in new swing arrangements. The cover band ViniBand has entertained over a quarter of a million guests already, and feels equally at home performing repertoires of Mieczysław Fogg, Sława Przybylska, the Bee Gees, the Beatles and Elvis Presley.
We’ll be taken on a sentimental journey in time to the days of the Bambino gramophone and sound postcards at the Podgórze Market Square. In the stunning setting of the Church of St Joseph, at the newly renovated square, the all-singing event will be led by the infallible Waldemar Domański, director of the Library of Polish Song.
New Year’s Eve without the largest dancefloor in Poland? No way! On this crazy night, Kraków’s heart beats with an electronic rhythm. The Main Market Square welcomes fresh club sounds from duo Xxanaxx. Their latest album FWRD is a perfect blend of atmospheric dreampop with warm soul, R&B and funky pulse. And more dance tunes come from Charlie, known to Kraków’s audiences from her cycle of events Szum.
Repertoires for all ages, universal dance music, atmospheric locations – Cracovians welcome in the new year in a champagne mood! (Artur Jackowski, "Karnet" monthly)
