A Polish premiere of a play by brilliant French playwright Yasmina Reza, famous in our country for productions of her dramas (Art and Life x 3). God of Carnage – unanimously acknowledged by audience and critics as the author’s best drama – has equally spectacular stage successes on its account. Since 2006 it has been staged in the most prestigious theatres - Berliner Ensemble, West End or Broadway among others. The play received many drama awards – among others Tony Award for Best Play and Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy in 2009. A skillfully constructed plot contributed to the success – a seemingly harmless encounter of two sets of parents to deal with their common problem – scuffle between their sons little by little reveals hidden dramatic tensions that lead to an unexpected ending. The play poses topical questions about sources of aggression and is directed by Marek Gierszał, Polish director, theatre and movie actor permanently working in Berlin.
